THE BULGE IN A DAY - Tour 1
Have only one day to explore the Battle of the Bulge? That's tough for a history nut, but here's an itinerary with a little of everything on the Southern Shoulder: a museum, bunker, foxholes,  a US hospital, Patton's grave, US & German cemeteries, churches, command posts, a farm where Hemingway stayed, and a couple of battle sites.
Logistics: We recommend leaving the KMC around 0730, doing lunch in Diekirch, and returning home by 1800. The trip requires minimal walking (except at the cemeteries) but wear shoes for muddy conditions near the foxholes/bunkers.
Directions:  This tour of the Southern Shoulder starts in Luxembourg City, goes northeast to Echternach, then follows the Sauer River west to Diekirch. The trip back down the river (and former German border) covers sites in Beaufort,Berdorf, Weilerbach, Dickweiler, Girsterklaus, and Rosport. Specific directions are in the itinerary
