A Suggested Agenda
Since the area of historical interest extends over 80 km of narrow roads,  a loose agenda for your visit saves time and nerves. Build in a little free time, too, as some of the best experiences in Normandy happen while wandering on back roads and stopping at less-publicized  spots.  Look for a sign bearing the symbol of a dove for  attractions related to the DDay landings, and remember the French spell D-Day as “Jour-J” (pronounced as ‘zhour-zhay’).

A reasonable approach is to start at Caen or Arromanches and work westward toward St. Mere Eglise.

Departure:  Leave the KMC after school/duty hours, arriving in Normandy in late evening.

Day 1: Visit Caen, Pegasus Bridge, and Arromanches (British/Canadian Areas)

Day 2: Visit Omaha Beach, Colleville Cemetery, and Pointe du Hoc.

Day 3: Visit Utah Beach, St. Mere Eglise, and Grandcamp Maisy

Day 4: Spend half a day moving back eastward and leave for the KMC after lunch.

The same agenda can be covered in a busy 3 day weekend by eliminating the area of least interest.  The Bayeux area is the most central location if you don't want to move from place to place every night.
