| Note the road from Echternach entering upper left. Sector A, at the top overlooking the river, held the machinegun outposts, the "Log-Houses", and the graves of German soldiers. The minefield was off the "point" at the upper right end of Sector A. One by one, six soldiers on patrol to Steinheim, including the XO and medic, were wounded the night of 1 Feb 45. They were evacuated to Cafe Weydert in Dickweiler, then on to a field hospital in Arlon. |
