More Old Baumholder Photos

Probably 110th
Infantry Reg. training
in the field behind the
theater, looking west.
The striped backs of
the Inf. barracks are
unchanged. Today's
Burger King is to the
left of the photo.
More Afrika Korp
(DAK) troops on the
field behind the
theater, looking east.
Note the library
building on left, and
the distinctive tower
at the crest of the hill,
still there today.
Engineer complex is
to the right. The
tallest man was ID'd
as an officer, with the
others NCO's.
Troops in background
are obviously not at
attention! This photo
looks east from the field
with the library in the
upper left. My German
friend said these three
are NCOs.
A few months ago I stood
in this field as my daughter
deployed out of the building
at the end. The buildings
on the left show the front
side of the striped buildings
in the top photo. All
buildings in the photo are
pretty much unchanged
since 1941.
The building on the left was
tough to find! It's just below
the old "inner command
circle" on the east side of
Prussman Ave, identifiable by
the small window and door
position. This was taken from
Texas Ave, looking toward
Pear Street with Orange Street
behind the building. The
vehicles suggest this is a
1950's photo.
